Pinoy writers in top Asian Lit awards

Four Filipino writers are on top of the second Man Asian awards. Released last July 22, the list includes Alfred Yuson with his novel The Music Child; Ian Rosales Casocot, with Sugar Land; Miguel Syjuco, with Ilustrado; and Lakambini A. Sitoy, nominated for Sweet Haven.

The Man Asian Literary Prize is an annual literary award for Asian novels unpublished in English. The first award given was to Chinese writer Jiang Rong for his novel Wolf Totem in November 2007.

  1. oh goody! incidentally Ian Rosales Casocot was my Philippine Lit teacher at Silliman University! Ahhh he's a good one! I remember the first day of class when he read his "bisaya" poem which was err graphically x-rated but tastefully done...hahaha he made me love Philippine Lit... :) My fave is Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez...

  2. I've read some of his works on the recommendation of an acquaintance of mine, Dean Alfar. I think he has one of his works published in a local anthology, and he's got several Palanca's right? He is good!

    Uy, you're from Siliman? I'd love to go there! I had a professor who studied there, Francis Macansantos.
